Open Access Policy

The Journal of Project Management Research (JPMR) provides immediate, unrestricted open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

In accordance with the DOAJ definition of open access, its free availability on the public internet permits any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles; crawl them for indexing; pass them as electronic data to software; or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

Peer Review and Publication Policy

JPMR implements a rigorous double-anonymous peer review process to ensure the academic quality, relevance, and integrity of all published articles. To maintain objectivity, both authors and reviewers remain completely anonymous to one another throughout the evaluation.

1. Initial Review & Plagiarism Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess its suitability for the journal’s scope, compliance with author guidelines, and basic academic standards.

Plagiarism cases are strictly examined at this stage. The manuscript is screened for textual similarity using the QuillBot Plagiarism Checker to ensure originality. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding references) or those found to be outside the journal’s scope will be rejected or returned to the authors for mandatory revision before any further consideration. Authors are fully responsible for ensuring their work is entirely original and properly cited.

2. Double-Anonymous Evaluation

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field. Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, clarity, methodological rigor, and contribution to project management research. The editorial team ensures that no conflicts of interest exist between reviewers and the submitted work.

3. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or assigned handling editor makes the final decision regarding publication. The potential outcomes are:

Authors are notified of the decision alongside constructive reviewer feedback. JPMR accepts manuscripts written exclusively in English. To maintain readability and publication quality, all accepted manuscripts undergo professional language editing and copyediting prior to final publication. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their initial submission files are completely anonymized to preserve the integrity of the review.

AI-Assisted Writing Policy

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted tools (such as ChatGPT, QuillBot, Grammarly, etc.) is strictly permitted only for language editing, grammar correction, or improving readability. Authors must ensure that AI tools are not utilized to generate substantive research content, synthesize original text, analyze data, or interpret core research findings.

If AI tools are employed during manuscript preparation, authors must clearly disclose their usage in the Acknowledgement section of the manuscript, explicitly specifying the tool used and its exact purpose. The ultimate responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and ethical integrity of the work remains entirely with the human authors. Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI tools constitutes a violation of JPMR’s publication ethics and will result in immediate rejection or retraction of the article.

Fee Waiver Policy

To ensure financial constraints do not act as a barrier to publication, partial or full fee waivers are available under the following specific conditions:

  1. Collaborative Partnerships: Manuscripts originating from recognized collaborative conference proceedings that have established an official institutional partnership with JPMR.
  2. Low-Income Countries: Corresponding authors primarily aligned with institutions in low-income or lower-middle-income economies (as defined by the World Bank) may apply for a fee waiver, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

All waiver requests must be submitted at the exact time of initial manuscript submission, accompanied by a formal application letter and relevant supporting documentation. The Editorial Board retains absolute discretion to approve or decline any waiver request.

This license allows anyone to copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially, provided that the original authors and the source publication are properly cited and credited.

All published articles are permanently preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), integrated with the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, ensuring the long-term availability, archival security, and accessibility of the journal's content.

Repository Policy (Self-Archiving)

JPMR explicitly permits and encourages authors to deposit all versions of their articles, including the Preprint, Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM), and the final Published Source (Publisher's Version) in an institutional repository, a subject repository (e.g., Zenodo), or their personal professional networks (e.g., ResearchGate) immediately upon publication.
